I personally don't have an explanation for more O2 like YOU state it does not make sense to me. if its recombining it should not be their UNLESS not all of its recombining? but even if NONE of its combining the amount of O2 has to be TINY compared to what the engine sucks it nomally? even if the hho is PURE O2. I know far to little about chemistry to answer that one.
