...if you get too much "needle oscillation" at idle, you can install a "restrictor" (also called 'vacuum arrester') in the vacuum line which should dampen the needle movement.

...the "restrictor" can be just a small piece of smaller diameter tubing (thus a smaller inside diameter) inserted at the "vacuum source" end.
