And Chris -- if the fan is meant to blow air back over the engine; it looks like it is mounted backwards? The curve of the blades would help them move more air if it was unbolted and flipped to face the other way...

[Edit: oh, wait, this is at the back of the car, and the fan is blowing out through the grill... The radiator is the gray-ish panel at the top of the picture (near the radiator hose!) and the whole compartment is an air plenum. The fan pulls the ait through it and blows it out the back -- putting the compartment in slight negative pressure.

It all makes sense, now...]
