If it was a stick, you could find out the DFCO
(deceleration fuel cut-off) RPM and keep it in a gear that stays above that RPM. Engine braking, full power steering and brakes, and NO FUEL CONSUMED.
I wonder if autos do this also? My guess is that the auto would upshift to bring the RPMs down, which would disable DFCO,
