adding a functional duct might undo the effect of the cover. back in the 80's there where a lot of semi solid wheel covers, most still had some sort of openings near the outer edge, so perhaps a disk with a ring of holes drilled in will work better, plus they also may evacuate brake dust.
this looks like a good solution, keeping a solid disk flom looking bland and still allowing cooling air trough
