adding a functional duct might undo the effect of the cover. back in the 80's there where a lot of semi solid wheel covers, most still had some sort of openings near the outer edge, so perhaps a disk with a ring of holes drilled in will work better, plus they also may evacuate brake dust.
this looks like a good solution, keeping a solid disk flom looking bland and still allowing cooling air trough

I think those vents aren't going to work in high speed situations... just like fans have effective speed ranges, any type of air movement will only work effectively in a given range of flow and speed, and those wheel covers seem to me like they'd only work at low speeds where airflow isn't so (insert proper term here) discombobulated. (That doesn't hit my spell check... odd.)
They're still slick, though. I like how they didn't make the inserts black attempting to hide them, instead, making them obvious. It adds to the elegance and boldness of the wheel design, I think.

Yup, the Tresel wheel sounds like an example of what you are describing :

The 4 lug Treser wheels? Don't know, but I think you'd have to go to the Michelin humidor to get tires that fit the Treser :
Quote:
This is the legendary Treser wheel with Michelin tires. The special thing about it is, that it is a metric wheel. The rim size is 210 TR 415, the tires are 230/45 VR 415. Everything clear? 210 is the rim width in millimeters (equals 8.25inches), 415 is the rim diameter in millimeter (16.3inches), 230 is the tire width and 45 the ratio sidewall height to tire width.
Michelin stopped production of these tires in 1990. However they have stored some of them in such a special way that you can buy them today and they are as good as new.

Frank Lee,
I had a 1979 Mustang Pace Car. It had those Michlin TRX rims. The replacement tires where $125 back then!!!
But man it could handle!
Frank Lee, I know handling is an important issue for you...,..
