...think about the "military" vehicles where "shielded" plug wires are used for EMI / RFI (don't want ignition 'noise' getting into sensitive electronics nor becoming a "signal" for homing-missiles and rockets---ka-BOOM!) and water-proofing (all-weather and fording operations).

...often special spark plugs are required having "treaded" plug-wire connections and O-ring gaskets for water-proofing.

...Iridium plugs do LAST a long time, but aren't as "conductive" as old-fashioned copper-core; and their "tips" are very brittle and subject to "breaking off" during "gapping" if not done very carefully.
