I started off in a 78 delta 88, at the age of 15,swayed in the wind. the front end plowed so much air, when the bouncing needle buried, the hood ornament spring loaded was laying back whistling as loud as the window leak...at 10 miles per gallon.

the question I had was.."how small can I go and not feel squashed?"

my very next car was a chevette. I despised it. Relapsed. bought a 74 ford pickup, full size...
again needed smaller...

didn't see small again, as if at war with a country full of 3 foot tall people, for some years, all v8s.

by chance, willing to go for a ride with friends in the summer of 1996 (I remember exactly)... an 89 subaru gl with a funky dashboard. 3 of us and a v8 in the back. had an amazing sound for such a small engine. ran deep low rpms. when he told me it was less than 1.8 liters... holy crap. The freakin little car had more room than a chevy blazer, and didn't want to tip over.

that size has left us of course. I hang on again, to an 87 gl, I no longer want anything, as if at war with an invisible country full of 3 foot tall people...
