Yeah, Jalopnik is the "performance fascist" website of choice.

Personally, I think the CR-Z is great. It's just a shame that I won't be remotely in a position to buy one when it's released because otherwise I'd be very interested. The styling is spot on, and the performance would be enough to keep me happy (the reported figures are more or less what my MX-5 gets and I'm plenty happy with that).

Weight could be a little less and economy perhaps a little better, but as has been mentioned, we'll just have to wait until a few hypermilers get their hands on it to see what it's capable of. The city estimates certainly don't sound too shabby, and it's interesting to see that the CVT version gets better economy than the manual - though I expect for Joe Public and their general inability to make the most of a manual gearbox, the CVT would be the better option. I suspect CVT will be the high seller (even in the UK, unless they charge more for it) and there'll be sales at both ends of the performance and economy scale for those who prefer manual.
