at least if you go that route its reversible if you dont like the results. if it were i though, i would probably throw some fiberglass resin or bondo on it, sand smooth(to original contour), primer and paint flat black to maintain the clean stock look(no tape)

That would be my prefered method, I just wasn't sure how much weight the resin or bondo might add (I'd probably use the resin). We're talking about a rather small area either way, nothing that'd be noticable to the car overall, but I've always been fond of "adding lightness" to my cars.
