I worked in a beef packing plant a couple years ago... they sell the bones to a company that makes fake ivory piano keys. All the "waste" is used in pet food, and goes to a rendering plant across the street, which smells horrible. Even the teeth are sold to another company that does something with them. They really don't waste anything.
