He can swap for the composite lamps, but I would only buy new ones. It seems like after a year or 2 these composite lamps get really clouded up and require cleaning every 6 months. I really did not notice a loss in MPG when I switched from composite to bucket style lamps. I like the bucket style better and visibility is way more important than 1 MPG if that.
