That grill block will net you your best MPG increase for mileage and also faster warmup times. I did a total block on mine also...........

I used black plastic truck mudflap material for mine and also incorporated LED markers and turn signals.......

I am still working on the headlamps..........

Your next best option is to install a block heater..........

I have mine on a timer for 15 minutes before leaving for work and I set it to 45 minutes on colder days. Good luck with your Metro project! You can read all the crap I did on mine here.......

Mullet's kind of an authority on Metros, I like to think. You'd do well to heed his recommendations!

Try taping the grill and hood gaps...

Can't you swap in the more aerodynamic headlights from the newer Metros?

Winter will be over here in a week. So I'm thinking not to worry about that until this fall. It will be 60-65 here during the day and 40-50 at night. You still think I need a heater for the block with temp like that?

What is your engine's operating temperature? What is the engine's temperature in the morning? Which of those two temperatures is greater?

A block heater always helps (unless you park overnight on Venus).

He can swap for the composite lamps, but I would only buy new ones. It seems like after a year or 2 these composite lamps get really clouded up and require cleaning every 6 months. I really did not notice a loss in MPG when I switched from composite to bucket style lamps. I like the bucket style better and visibility is way more important than 1 MPG if that.
