I know this is post was awhile ago (and you've tried other ways to deal with it), but the ideas have merit so I thought I'd try to be helpful:
One source of multiple reflection would be the mirror used to reflect onto the windscreen (or other) surface. Try using a front surface mirror rather than a mirror on which the backside of the glass is aluminized. Most all of the old polaroid "swinger" type cameras have a very thin, front surface mirror inside so you can get one for $1 at yardsales & thrift stores. Film can't be got, so they're cheap. The mirror might even be flexed just a bit to correct the anamorphic distortion from the windscreen. Just a thought. Keep posting pretty pics.
