Jack,

I understand what you are doing and why in terms of turning the contactor off and on for your field shunt portion of your motor. However, I am curious how you are feeding it the required 4 amps. I have a sepex motor and need a max of 50 amps for the field coil. I was planning on building a small PWM circuit but didn't know if you came up with something more clever.
