I would suggest a momentary over a toggle. You would have to hold it down while the engine dies but no chance of forgetting to flip it back on before you need to drive again.
For a source of sturdy push to open momentary a brake light switch has worked well for me.
Your positioning for a switch looks good but I would test things out with a multi-meter.
