No you don't. Look at all the things that die when you cut power to the "hot in ON" rail: gauges, wipers, washer fluid, ECU.

You want to leave your car's computers running: ABS, airbags, ECU. Rebooting the ECU would make it think you just started the car, and it might run rich for a little bit. You also want to leave instrumentation, lighting, and the blower motor running so there is as little disruption as possible when you hit the kill switch.

Leave power to the "hot in ON" rail, but kill the injectors.
