The best bet is the cheaper higher energy LFP cells. 4 40ah CALB cells would provide ~12.8V nominal and could output 500A continuously w/ a weight of ~13lbs and ~500+Wh of usable capacity for ~$200. Supposedly cycle life is ~3000 cycles before they get down to ~350Wh of usable capacity, so that's about 8 years of life assuming no alternator use (longer w/ one). Compared to a new LA battery they look favorable and eve compared to j-yard batteries they're still cost effective for use w/o a alt.
