Accidents..... Personally, I wouldn't buy a vehicle that has had damage like that due to an accident.... The structure of monocoque frames are so dependent on geometry including external components (sub frame et. al.). If there's one thing engineering has done to me - it's instilled a higher empirical and justified fear of car crashes. Sure, welds are stronger - but that's not necessarily what you want. I mean, deforming "just right" takes a lot of experience and testing to design.... Pulling a bend out is an incredible risk that can't be managed...

Most people realize that a lathe (a piece of heavy machinery) is really dangerous. Those same people don't have the same caution with other pieces of heavy machinery, such as cars....
