smoke it , low pressure smoke generator

to show that not all techs do not have a clue ...
when you suspect a vacuum leak on an OBD2 system

this simple test can even be done with the scan gaugeII on most NON european systems . for BMW VW Audi Mercedes , you will need a tool that will give you Enhanced data , something SG2 does NOT do as it is
ONLY GENERIC .
FT values displayed will be FT adaptives on most european systems .

at idle look at the sum of LTFT and STFT it will be high , over 10%
then look at the same values at 2500 rpm
sum of LTFT and STFT will be very close to zero
IF the system has a vacuum leak .

to locate the leak
remove the duct to the air filter , cover the plastic part the duct fits over with a plastic bag , then reassemble the air duct .
connect your low pressure smoke generator to a vacuum line , best to T into the line with appropriate T fittings

run the smoke machine with the oil stick and oil cap off , when smoke exits both ... put them back in place , then ...
run the smoke machine
smoke will exit from the vacuum leak

all competent independent shops and all dealerships have smoke generators.
most have at least one tech that knows how to use them.
===========================
i would have solved this problem in minutes , i have solved similar problems many times , in minutes .
not to gloat , this is very basic stuff ....
