I want to do this to my 300 SDL. It would be a lot less of a hassle given that there is no hatch; it's just a matter of assuring that the trunk can open all the way. As much as I would hate to drill holes into that car, it already has rust around the trunk area so I doubt it would ever make financial sense to restore the car anyway. The improvement you have gotten based on your results so far, while not scientific due to the incomplete testing, is still obvious. A 3% or higher gain can certainly be expected, but I think the completed results will be more closer to 5%.
