This type of landscaping is becoming increasingly popular here in Florida and is very much encouraged by the local governments.

I would love to try the permaculture thing with my yard, but my homeowners association won't allow it.
We bought our new house in Sept. My weed wacker and blower are cordless and the mower is corded. The cord is kind of a pain in the ass, but there is no smell, mess, maintenance or expense with the purchase of gasoline.
