Been using an electric mower since we moved to this house. Not as convenient as a cordless, but it's more efficient since there's no losses associated with the charge/discharge cycles. Had to replace the switch a couple of times, but aside from that an electric mower is really, really easy to use. Pull the lever, mow - let go, stop mowing. Nice and quiet too.
Congrats on the Elek-trak. I'd love to have one of those.

Hang on, I need to ask the wife to test those fruit scones first.
At least those emissions are for recycling...

I would love to try the permaculture thing with my yard, but my homeowners association won't allow it.
We bought our new house in Sept. My weed wacker and blower are cordless and the mower is corded. The cord is kind of a pain in the ass, but there is no smell, mess, maintenance or expense with the purchase of gasoline.

I love your mower. I thought about moving up from a push mower to a riding lawn mower but took the easy route when I found a clearance ZTR.

I just bought one of these today:
20" Electric Mower by Great States Corp - More Electric Mowers at doitbest.com
It's the EarthWise 20" corded electric mower (which is virtually identical to the Homelite UT13124 that they sell at Home Depot. $200 plus tax. It has ball bearing wheels and a steel deck.

If you use sheep to mow the lawn, bring chickens by about 4 days later. They will distribute the fertilizer to get the fly maggots out of it before the flies hatch, leave some high-nitrogen deposits of their own, and take out the dandylions.
I use a plug-in mower I got for $5 at a garage sale. No guarantee, but it is fine after 3 years and two sharpenings. Very nice. The slightly balky weed eater was $2. The cord, however, cost real money. A friend who makes firewood says that he is almost twice as productive using an electric chain saw for work around the yard, even with the cord to deal with. It still beats gas and maintenance. He plans to run one off his golf cart battery for field work.

I just got my hands on some WORX lawn equipment. They are all cordless and incredible. I almost wait for the lawn and hedges to grow just so I can go out at night and cut my grass.
I got the push mower and got a really good deal on the weed wacker, trimmer, blower combo .. no complaints ...
It's nice to be able to go outside in the summer at 8pm to do your lawn work and not disturb the neighbors that can usually hear you sneeze next door ...
I wish the neighboring lawn services would be as considerate @ 6:30am with their Dixie Choppers ...
