Update:

while at the recent EV Expo in Ottawa, I heard a couple of things from some of the EVCO members following this issue

1) DIY conversions "wired together with jumper cables" was one concern mentioned by a government official. (The joke was they've been watching the first couple of ForkenSwift YouTube videos, which were very much in that vein.)

2) There's some hope that an interim solution will soon be presented that will allow people to register conversions before the province's rebate program for alt-fuel conversions runs out (in the next couple of months)

Following that, EV converters / owners can expect tighter inspection/regulation of conversions.

3) The issue of first responders was mentioned again.
