Eh, just bustin' your balls.

If your wife doesn't listen to money saving techniques, suggest that she begin paying for her own fuel. Maybe I'm just an a-hole, but this is what I did when my wife decided she didn't care how much gas she used. She gets money for pretty much anything, but I keep track of fuel use... her fuel use went up, I started saying "no" more to other things. She got the hint quickly.

I also may have suggested that my wife get an allowance each week. Her eyes lit up. I told her it would be on order of $50 each week. Her eyes got HUGE. I then explained to her that out of her allowance, she was going to pay for fuel costs and oil changes, as well as all other basic maintenance charges, including my time for doing these things for her.

She quickly learned to drive more efficiently, and learned to change her own oil and other small tasks. Coincidence?
