gauge modification?

I had a thought the other day, as I was comparing my Superchips temp readout to my stock temp gauge. (see picture) What if we did something like the smaller attached picture, and placed a small LED/LCD 3 digit display inside the factory temperature gauge? I figure the harder task is wiring it up so it will read accurately. Any ideas?

Slow down, you'll get better MPG!

Not really safe to take pics while you're driving... I've done it, but that doesn't make it any less dangerous.

Thanks, you are right. I'll try to avoid future driving/picture taking. I have tried to explain the slower driving=better mpg to my wife, but she doesn't really listen...except when I am filling the tank again. You are right, I have noticed the truck will get about 24 mpg at 65 mph here in Utah, if the roads are pretty flat.

Eh, just bustin' your balls.

If your wife doesn't listen to money saving techniques, suggest that she begin paying for her own fuel. Maybe I'm just an a-hole, but this is what I did when my wife decided she didn't care how much gas she used. She gets money for pretty much anything, but I keep track of fuel use... her fuel use went up, I started saying "no" more to other things. She got the hint quickly.

I also may have suggested that my wife get an allowance each week. Her eyes lit up. I told her it would be on order of $50 each week. Her eyes got HUGE. I then explained to her that out of her allowance, she was going to pay for fuel costs and oil changes, as well as all other basic maintenance charges, including my time for doing these things for her.

She quickly learned to drive more efficiently, and learned to change her own oil and other small tasks. Coincidence?
