The Aspire IS a couple hundred pounds extra but they made up for it with shorter gearing. You should be able to cruise 25 in 5th gear easily. You could always try swapping the sohc 1.6 out of a 323 for a little extra oomph down low, its a direct bolt in.

Yeah i want it to be my fastspire I actually wanted to do the 323 b8 swap and rebuild the motor myself as learn me process just trying to find an old junker local for cheap I can play with. The festiva soundly in my opinion were built alot better the the aspire :/ The aero was better yes...but the basis of power-to weight issue was way off and plus my linkage is really lose and my o2 sensor completely disentengrated. I'm replacing the o2 sensor and fuel filter soon but then again sense the distributor block repair the car use to idle to death alot its gotten alot smooth but it still hiccups at idle more then i want to admit. I'm really greatly i found the 101 exhaust theory thread and post on here cause i was considering an exhaust mod on it as well. First is o2 fuel and im modding the oem airbox with a weapon-r short ram filter backyard config that we a full how-to on fordaspire.com to mod with. Apparently once member found an exhaust that maybe be the perfect tuning on it for overall he said it was an 03 cobra magnaflow. And from what he explains it sounded like it boost both torque and hp (aka balanced tuning). And while you think its a simple bolt on that not the case the aspire unlike the ford is not as good of a solid clutch system. Its unfortanately quite frail and delicate and must be treated with the dumpster and a few clutch found if you want to swap. And the axles and drivetrain also. Trust me we have a few members that did alot of swaps for iceracing meets. Apparently the car...one of the best iceracing designs go fig LoL. And by fastspire I dont mean im going to race everyone and go to tracks I mean I want to boost standard acceleration (my usual 2-3(4k occational burps) sense I constantly have to climb hills from 0-55 on the main road i deliver on. It somestimes gives you a help out *dieing on you* when its attempting to even maintain or even accelerate on hills no matter what gear or speed :/
