rpm monitoring

I've read alot of the shift recommendation on shifting. I've always done the 2-2.5(3 when necessary) accelaration between shifts. I saw a few people mentioning 1500 rpm but my question is this my cars engine blocks start jumping and making a lot of not friendly noises if i dont keep the rpms above 2k? Is there something im suppose to do the motor mounts to enable this or is this common fuel effeciency for trucks vs car?

Some cars work better in different rpm ranges.

If you car if bucking and making unfriendly noises at 1,500 rpm then maybe you just need to keep yours a bit higher.

Best practice is to go as low as possible without your car bogging down or throwing a fit.

Sounds like something may be wrong. Did you say you had a modified ECU?

You may be asking too much of it at that rpm. Back off the throttle a bit and it'll likely smooth out nicely.

as hypermiling goes, demanding and bogging...

find out your cars max oil pressure at oem rpm..

2850 rpm is in my own for example to max the oil pump. This helps ensure relief valves do not petrify, and of course gives everything a max shot of a thing called lubrication.

the inliners REALLY need this maximum shot.

In my altima yeah but it doesnt have any bog issues till you hit a dead 1ish with still having the pedal on *aka way under speed for that set shift (aka 25 in 5th gear). The altima have considerable amounts of torque for a car vehicle its my aspire that bogs pretty bad if you dont keep it close to atleast 2krpms

Aspire as in Ford aspire? Thats thats really strange considering my festiva would lug down to 1000 pretty well. The Aspire IS a couple hundred pounds extra but they made up for it with shorter gearing. You should be able to cruise 25 in 5th gear easily. You could always try swapping the sohc 1.6 out of a 323 for a little extra oomph down low, its a direct bolt in.

Yeah i want it to be my fastspire I actually wanted to do the 323 b8 swap and rebuild the motor myself as learn me process just trying to find an old junker local for cheap I can play with. The festiva soundly in my opinion were built alot better the the aspire :/ The aero was better yes...but the basis of power-to weight issue was way off and plus my linkage is really lose and my o2 sensor completely disentengrated. I'm replacing the o2 sensor and fuel filter soon but then again sense the distributor block repair the car use to idle to death alot its gotten alot smooth but it still hiccups at idle more then i want to admit. I'm really greatly i found the 101 exhaust theory thread and post on here cause i was considering an exhaust mod on it as well. First is o2 fuel and im modding the oem airbox with a weapon-r short ram filter backyard config that we a full how-to on fordaspire.com to mod with. Apparently once member found an exhaust that maybe be the perfect tuning on it for overall he said it was an 03 cobra magnaflow. And from what he explains it sounded like it boost both torque and hp (aka balanced tuning). And while you think its a simple bolt on that not the case the aspire unlike the ford is not as good of a solid clutch system. Its unfortanately quite frail and delicate and must be treated with the dumpster and a few clutch found if you want to swap. And the axles and drivetrain also. Trust me we have a few members that did alot of swaps for iceracing meets. Apparently the car...one of the best iceracing designs go fig LoL. And by fastspire I dont mean im going to race everyone and go to tracks I mean I want to boost standard acceleration (my usual 2-3(4k occational burps) sense I constantly have to climb hills from 0-55 on the main road i deliver on. It somestimes gives you a help out *dieing on you* when its attempting to even maintain or even accelerate on hills no matter what gear or speed :/

The B8 it a good motor too, just slightly more involved than a B6 swap. Best power per effort swap for our cars though. Shouldnt be too much of a hit to the MPGs either. B8's have the best low end torque of any of the B series I think. And its not too much power to have to swap trannies either. Look out for a protege, should be easier than finding a 323 with a B8.

Though after swapping a B6T and G25MR in my festiva I feel like I could do anything now lol. Its worth it though, and I should be able to manage 40mpg pretty easily. Ive gotten 38.9 and 38.4 my last two tanks, and I still have plenty of room for improvement. Im running without the o2 sensor right now because I have the infamous exhaust manifold crack thats drawing in air over the o2 causing it to run rich (32 mpg). Im also running the stock festiva exhaust which is killing my low end torque with the turbo.
