The B8 it a good motor too, just slightly more involved than a B6 swap. Best power per effort swap for our cars though. Shouldnt be too much of a hit to the MPGs either. B8's have the best low end torque of any of the B series I think. And its not too much power to have to swap trannies either. Look out for a protege, should be easier than finding a 323 with a B8.
Though after swapping a B6T and G25MR in my festiva I feel like I could do anything now lol. Its worth it though, and I should be able to manage 40mpg pretty easily. Ive gotten 38.9 and 38.4 my last two tanks, and I still have plenty of room for improvement. Im running without the o2 sensor right now because I have the infamous exhaust manifold crack thats drawing in air over the o2 causing it to run rich (32 mpg). Im also running the stock festiva exhaust which is killing my low end torque with the turbo.
