I was able to help my mom remove all the grass in her back yard and most in the front. She's an avid gardener and has used low ground cover between walking stones around all her flower beds.
The best push mower I've seen is an old gas mower less the gas engine, a GM electric radiator fan motor was mounted in it's place with a plastic bush blade and powered using two gel cells charged via a 5w solar panel mounted to the handle, the owner would leave it outside to charge.
