Whoops. You're right. I had my Fords and Chevys confused.
It kills me that my around town mpg is so bad (I don't EOC), being around 12 - 13. However, it's not much worse than the 4.0 (242 cid) I6 base engine, so the extra power is worth it. It's always fun to nail it getting on the Merritt Parkway from one of the old ramps with a stop sign at the top and watch the guy in the BMW behind me crap a brick when I take off
Fortunately, better injectors (Ford FMS 24lb, better spray pattern) are said to help both power and mpg a bit in these, and a few other tweaks can help. My goal is to hit 25mpg highway by the end of college, preferably with no aeromods other than maybe underbody stuff. Maybe a removable Kammback and rear wheel skirts could get me close to 30 on long trips...
