Yeeeeahhh finally a forum i can speak on haha Right before i left for the Navy in april i took tank out drag racing and i broke a 15.09. that's a phenominal time for a 4500 pound truck with a 305. And even better was bout 30 mile trip to the strip plus 9 passes plus 30 more miles home and the average was still 19.2 MPG!!!! love my ecorod

Nice! And isn't it a 302 in there? That makes my 360 look pretty sad, considering it's in a 4200 vehicle, with short-ish gearing, and only ran a 15.2 @ 89 mph in the magazine tests in '98. And, mine gets complete crap for mpg. What's your mix of city/highway driving?

Nope ur thinking of the ford 5.0 which is actually a 4992cc or something like that It's not actually a 5.0 its a 4.96 lol. Nah but my Chevy has a 305 on average i do 17-20 in the city and like 23-24 freeway I can break 27 i found out on the freeway but i don't drive like that much haha

And actually i've been in one of those 5.9 jeeps those things are quiiiick for stock trucks. i mean you throw a K&N and a nice exhaust on ther and its already a 14 second vehicle

Whoops. You're right. I had my Fords and Chevys confused.

It kills me that my around town mpg is so bad (I don't EOC), being around 12 - 13. However, it's not much worse than the 4.0 (242 cid) I6 base engine, so the extra power is worth it. It's always fun to nail it getting on the Merritt Parkway from one of the old ramps with a stop sign at the top and watch the guy in the BMW behind me crap a brick when I take off

Fortunately, better injectors (Ford FMS 24lb, better spray pattern) are said to help both power and mpg a bit in these, and a few other tweaks can help. My goal is to hit 25mpg highway by the end of college, preferably with no aeromods other than maybe underbody stuff. Maybe a removable Kammback and rear wheel skirts could get me close to 30 on long trips...

That's the beautiful thing with bracket racing... You can run what ya brung and still win at the end of the day. Consistency is key. Cool to see someone having fun even with the slowest car there!

Great thing is, is that after I put the new ECU in, I topped off and drove 127.5 miles, at 50-55 mph and topped off again for 47.2 mpg, not bad for something that can run 14 second quarter miles (at least).
That Festiva sounds hilarious. If you ever get it into the 13s, it would be the perfect sleeper. It sounds like a cheap way to have a fast and efficient car.
