No sure if those instant MPGs are accurate. My 6sp Fabia hovers about 40-45 MPG instant at 75-80 on the flat - not that there is much flat here in Scotland so it is hard to tell. Those MPGs are imperial. I would estimate a bigger and heavier Golf being worse assuming the same gearing.
Having tapped that I have the 130 PD engine which vs the 90 would be thirstier. I'm charging my handheld DV so I can do an equivalent Video for comparison. It would be useful to get a match with another 6sp TDI.
I'm also thinking of a rate my driving video so people can tell me how carp my technique is
