VW Golf/Rabbit Pickup: the best MPG out of any pickup truck, a clean diesel, and it was built here, in America, with American-made dies, molds, etc; but, of course, hold the overkill American engineering.
Mind you, I don't say US, because Canada and Mexico should take some responsibility too.
(not really, mexico has it's own share of strengths and problems and canada has to be one of the most historically powerful military, next to france, while the US had one of the most overkill and inactive armies ever. It still does, operating on huge funds, and making excuses to get oil blah blah...)
