Don't mean to hijack the hot box thread with A/C defrost comments but what the heck.
I figure you need the A/C to defrost the windows because the engine is not up to temp yet so can't blow any warm air. So A/C comes on and blows dry air on windshield clearing it up.
So get a little electric heater/fan, velcro to dash, blow hot air on windshield for first 5 minutes until engine can supply the warm air. A/C not requried. A little extra alternator power is all.
Solution for those of us that have already removed A/C and P/S.
