I am satisfied with the results of the mounts I made. I wouldn't really suggest anyone else do it though. Its messy, dangerous, there are toxic fumes and splinters of metal to pull from your fingers. I'm not even going into how I did it. If you decide to attempt it, good luck and be careful. Cutting out the old rubber is not fun and protect your eyes, I had a close call with old molten rubber flung on my eyelid before I decided to wear glasses. Alot of people just fill their old ones with window weld or silicone, buy new ones, or the inserts you are talking about. The rubber in my front mount was completely gone, and inserts didn't appeal to me. For $80 it would be advisable to throw in a few extra bucks and buy replacements from rockauto for ~104. The inserts don't appeal because they fill what is supposed to be the weakest part of the mount (an engineered hole) with a harder rubber than the original partially degraded mount. That has to be transmitting vibration in a way the engineers specifically wanted to avoid. Just my opinion.
