Those general rules of thumb tend to apply to things near the "average" of whatever group the rule of thumb is supposed to apply to. Yours sounds like it probably isn't near the average.
You may not have moved the torque band down at all, in fact. Only a dyno will tell you for certain. The same goes for cam timing, BTW.
