But the main thing is, what RPM?
I drove my 97 Civic HX yesterday. The transmission gearing in this car is taller than the other Civic models of the same year. The shift light comes on around 2,600 RPM in this car as you accelerate and shift through the gears.

The shift light in my HX can come on at 2,000 RPM while driving in a gear you think is perfect while driving 25 to 30 miles an hour, so the shift light does not just go on at one single RPM just like the other forum members have said.

Personally I'm shifting through the gears on this HX around 2,000 RPM and generally this is around the RPM range I shift most vehicles I drive with a manual transmission. Depends on the vehicle of course.
