If you are thinking of putting a limited slip in to help with icy roads. I can tell you don't even think of going all out and putting a detroit locker in there instead. My CJ has lockers in both ends and it was nearly impossible to keep it out of the ditch or off the guard rail. This was with 35x12.50 mud king tires and driving very carefully.

A locker is just way to rough on light snow and totally dangerous on ice. If there was more than 2-3ft of snow it was pretty fun though But then again I have driven a camaro with wrinkle wall tires in 6 inches of snow and that was really fun

What I do now is keep a set of cable type tire chains in my metro in the winter and it can go anywhere I need it to go. A good set of chains on a 2wd can take you farther than a 4wd with normal all terrain tires ever could. But you can take them off when not needed.
