What I do now is keep a set of cable type tire chains in my metro in the winter and it can go anywhere I need it to go. A good set of chains on a 2wd can take you farther than a 4wd with normal all terrain tires ever could. But you can take them off when not needed.

Yes, but those are illegal in the wonderful state of IL.
Everything is illegal here. go 20 miles east, and IN has half the road rules we have.
I don't think I'm gonna go all out anytime soon. I don't think I'm swappin diffs either. tires are probably the easiest legal thing.
