Yes, and no -- they are at their best at dusk and in the rain. I had to replace the passenger side camera, and it is not usable at night, because the "F-stop" makes it too sensitive and the screen shows essentially white when it is totally dark. So, I shut it off at night.
The screens are definitely the Achilles Heel of the system -- they need to be brighter in sunlight, and they need to run cooler; as they heat up, they get dimmer and dimmer. Which is not good in bright light.

I am guessing you already tried this, but what about a shroud over the screens? Maybe in the proportion of those ones that cover the LCD camera screens.
