My last two vacation rentals were automatic transmission cars that I couldn't EOC in. I did P&G them, but have no idea whether it helped or hurt. I averaged close to 5.5l/100km in them (42 mpg in the Toyota Yaris with 1.5 l engine and 43.7 mpg in the Kia Rio with 1.6 l engine). Since I was doing a lot of long distance, warm engine highway driving, I'm sure my mpg would have been worse if I'd mixed in much city driving. I think you're probably doing pretty well to get 5.5l/100km without EOC or P&G. The only other thing I did for hypermiling was to keep my top speed around 90 km/hr (55 mph).
