Friday night I got to go down to an electric vehicle association meeting in the Chicago, IL area.
The meeting was for the Fox Valley Chapter of the Electric Auto Association:

I carpooled down there on a three hour ride (plus my one-hour to get to the park and ride) with five other guys in a mini-van. I was told we managed to get 28 MPG in the old van, with 6 guys, in Chicago traffic, running on E-85!!!
The first thing I saw when we got there was several electric pickup trucks charging up in the parking lot.
Just inside was two Priuses (Prii?) that had been converted to plug-in hybrids, and
THIS home-built electric trike.
Must have been about 50 people there. There was a presentation on the conversion of the one Prius to plug-in. There was also a presenter talking about a bunch of electric vehicles that were going to be shown at an auto museum, and also some technical information on how to hook a tachometer to an electric motor.
They also had a raffle and a long break to look at the vehicles.
The best part was just riding around for hours at a time in a minivan with other electric vehicle enthusiasts. They had talked about doing some Saturday work days on electric vehicles. Looks like I have new buddies to help with the Electro-Metro!
At next months' meeting, they are going to be auctioning off a Vangaurd car.
It was fun, looking forward to going to the next meeting.
