The Gulf Stream warms the UK, that is a fact. What powers the Gulf Stream?

Thermohaline circulation.

It is not having it both ways -- it is global climate change. More heat energy doesn't mean that it gets warmer everywhere. It means that there are changes and changes mean some places get hotter and other cooler, and there is more rain, but there is more drought, too. It is a great big very complex system, and we cannot know all the results.

Use your own best judgment on what the oil companies are doing to protect their money maker.
