If those who are questioning the validity of global climate change are impugning the motives of the scientists who are working on this, as only seeking future scientific grants and/or profiteering in some possible carbon market -- then it seems quite reasonable to also examine the motives of those who are working to spread FUD about the science that is behind this critical problem.

The record of the oil companies of doing "the right thing" is pitiful, at best. Why do they deserve any leeway at all, when all they have done is profit from an amazing resource, while reeking damage and corruption in their wake?

On balance, the very real profiteering by the oil companies is here and now, and they have every motive to sew your mind with fear and doubt.
