If you consider CO2 then it is fairly directly proportional to mileage. The VX had lower C02 than almost every car made today, not considering the aero improvements that would drop the levels significantly lower.
NOX might be higher if measured as a percentage of exhaust without regards to the volume of the exhaust, but the amount would be much closer if you account for the higher mileage due to better aero.
