i think it is way over geared for what it is, a 3.70 or 3.5 would suit the tourque of these motors better, for milage that is. off road the 4.1s are good
Under normal conditions, I would agree. However, the lack of low-range in my Legacy caused Su to stall at full throttle up a steep dirt hill. It probably didn't help that I had 4 passengers and all of their camping gear in it at the time. Backing down was barely manageable... gosh I miss that car.
