VW has completely forgotten what made it a global success in the first place: delivering VALUE and DURABILITY via robust design and SIMPLICITY. And it didn't hurt that they had a clever ad agency. Seems all the Euro stuff that used to have vaunted reputations for engineering supremacy (M-B, BMW, etc.) are in the same boat i.e. delivering overpriced, over-complicated, overweight, unreliable garbage that spends more time in the shop than on the road.

I used to be VW's biggest fan... I still do like the pre-'80s stuff but after that it's for the birds.

VW has a nice diesel engine; too bad it's in a VW.
