You made me look it up. Fueleconomy.gov only has the 2010 MZ5 listed, and only in a 5-speed.

2010 Mazda5 5-spd MT = 22/28 mpg.
2011 Odyssey (fe version) = 19/28 mpg, while being MUCH bigger, but also pushing $40,000.

Advantage: Mazda for the stickshift. You could certainly work more mpg out of it than the Ody.

Of course, this Prius blows them both away, if 5 seats is sufficient.
