Is it a tranny or oil cooler? I assumed the lines going into the rad were the trans cooler lines, and that oily mess of a cooler in the grille was for motor oil. Not uncommon on SUVs of the 90s to have some way of cooling oil, our old 98 GMC Jimmy had both of them in the rad though.

I was thinking of tying one open slat in front of the fan, one open one in front of the cooler. I've experience how temperamental the Jeep trans is about temp. Like, not having OD when the trans is cold, lol. It needs a flush, should clear up it's quirks.

I'll keep note of exactly where it sits tomorrow, but I'm not about to tear down to the thermostat again. Unless I can get at it with out pulling off the accessory bracket, I won't touch it. Had to tear it down to change the water pump to change the bypass hose, not fun.

I haven't put the block back on. Getting a week's worth of driving averaged into the onboard computer, and will reset and see if there's a difference next week.

"All I know about music is that not many people ever really hear it. [...] But the man who creates the music is hearing something else, is dealing with the roar rising from the void and imposing order on it as it hits the air. What is evoked in him, then, is of another order, more terrible because it has no words, and triumphant, too, for the same reason. And his triumph, when he triumphs, is ours." -Sonny's Blues
